When it comes to corrective eyewear, contact lenses are ideal for many lifestyles. Being well-informed about contact lenses and their use can help you find the perfect type for your needs, regardless of what they are.
The way contact lenses fit matters just as much as their prescription. Ask anyone who’s ever worn poorly-fitting contacts: it can ruin a pair of otherwise excellent lenses.
If you’re considering contact lenses, we recommend that you request a contact lens exam and fitting. During this appointment we will check to make sure your eyes are in good health, and help you find contacts that fit properly.
The contact lens exam is the first and most important step towards wearing contact lenses. During the exam we perform tests similar to those in routine eye exams to make sure your eyes are suitable for contacts.
If your eyes are a good match for contacts, we perform more detailed tests to determine the shape and curvature of your eyes. This information helps us find the right kind of contact lens for you.
Not all contact lenses are created equal. There are many types of lenses available for various prescriptions, applications, and eye shapes. During the exam and fitting we will work with you to find the pair that suits you best.
Once the exam is complete, we provide you with a trial pair of lenses. Depending on the trial, we will meet with you a few days or weeks later to determine their comfort and effectiveness.
Finding the right fit can take a few trials because every person’s eyes have a unique shape. If the first pair doesn’t fit perfectly, don’t be dismayed—we will keep working until we find the right pair!
You can find us in the River East Plaza, between Safeway and Booster Juice, and across from Tim Hortons. We have plenty of parking available on-site.
*Please note we are CLOSED on Saturdays of long weekends and for the months of July and August.
“Just had the first eye exam for my daughter with Dr. Chow. My daughter really does not like doctors… but Dr. Chow was perfect she did the exam flawlessly and handled my daughter’s objections really well. ZERO stress. Now my daughter is excited to come back for her next eye exam in a year. Thank you also to Dr. Mestito-Dao super nice and super accommodating! Not to mention the staff, pro’s at what they do. Thank you and nicely done HVC!”
“I had a very good experience with this clinic. The reception staff were warm, and efficient. My insurance coverage was handling very well. The pre-exam procedures were done well, by staff that were well versed in doing them. The Optometrist (Dr Zimmer), was excellent to deal with and very thorough. The office had a pleasant ambiance, and I left my appointment with a very “good feeling” about the whole experience. I will be booking my appointments with this clinic again.”
“Every time I go to the H.V.C. I’m very pleased with Dr. Mundle & his staff’s thorough eye examination. They always take their time to explain & answer any questions I have regarding their tests & procedures.”
“Everyone was very friendly. They went over and above to explain everything to me. Helped me pick out new glasses which I’m obsessed with. When I went back in to pick them up the girl was so excited to help me and I left feeling so confident.”
“The staff are so friendly and it’s a very welcoming place. I see Dr. Mestito-Dao and I always feel like she listens to me and offers great feedback & advice. The exams are thorough so I also feel reassured that I’m in good hands and have had a comprehensive appointment. I would recommend Henderson Vision Centre to anyone.”
Contacts are one of the most popular forms of vision correction. Because of their flexible, comfortable, and hands-free fit, many individuals prefer wearing soft contacts over eyeglasses.
Their design offers several benefits that eyeglasses don’t, such as a more natural field of vision that remains unobstructed from eyeglass frames. However, contacts do require more maintenance and care.
Yes, contact lenses do expire about every four years from their manufactured date. The contact lens solution that it’s packaged in will no longer be sterile and you should not put expired lenses in your eyes.
Unlike a prescription for eyeglasses, contact lens prescriptions also expire annually, necessitating an updated contact lens exam and fitting to place an order for a new supply.

Imagine needing to squint to see distant objects or struggling to read road signs until you’re almost upon them. This is life with myopia. From schoolchildren to adults, myopia can significantly impact a personès daily activities, requiring corrective measures like glasses or contact lenses. Unfortunately, myopia cannot be reversed, only corrected or controlled.
Even though it can’t be reversed, several myopia control methods have proven to slow the progression of myopia. Other long-term solutions, like laser eye surgery, can also reduce or eliminate the need for glasses or contact lenses.
One thing that is certain is the need for intervention to prevent potential complications that can arise from unchecked myopia. That’s why it’s so important to get regular eye exams for your child.
